J. Jay Smith - Director of Music/Organist



J. Jay Smith has been Director of Music/Organist at Flemington Presbyterian Church since 1992 where he oversees the church’s music ministry. He is a 1977 graduate of Westminster Choir College of Rider University in Princeton with a degree in church music and organ. After graduation, he was Minister of Music at St. Paul Lutheran Church in East Windsor for nearly fifteen years and a college administrator at Westminster Choir College and then Princeton University. Jay lives in Trenton and is a real estate agent for Weidel Realtors and plays for numerous weddings and funerals.





Rachel E. Barker - Director of Handbells



Rachel E. Barker joined the staff of our church as Director of Handbells in September 2009.  Ms. Barker is pursuing a Master of Music degree in vocal performance and pedagogy at Westminster Choir College of Rider University.  A native of Tennessee, she graduated from King College in Bristol, TN with a double major in French and music.  She has been ringing handbells since 1998 and has attended numerous regional, state and national competitions.  Rachel is a soprano and has sung in many choral works with major orchestras and has performed numerous vocal recitals.  Most recently she received the American Choral Director's Association National Student Award in 2008.   She directs the Memorial Ringers, Joyful Ringers and Melody Chimes as well as sings in the Chancel Choir.
