IHN Service Opportunity

Interfaith Hospitality Network is a network of churches that houses local homeless families throughout the year. Each year as part of this network, Flemington Presbyterian hosts families within the Interfaith Hositality Network who need shelter. The goal of IHN is to have the clients placed in jobs and affordable housing within a 3-month period. While in the Network, they are offered a number of life enhancing activities while our church helps to provide a warm, hospitable environment in which to stay and receive three square meals a day.

Our hosting dates for 2010 will be 02/14 through 02/28 and 05/16 through 05/30. Prior to these hosting dates, we will ask for volunteers to sleep in the church with our overnight guests or to have dinner with the families. Monetary and food donations are also welcome to help support our guests while they are here.

We are welcoming our guests again this year from May 16th through May 30th.  During this time we ask that you kindly give of your time to:

1. Sleep over with the families ( in Room 22),
2. Provide meals and join them for dinner, or
3. Join them for a morning or afternoon of fellowship during the weekend, when the IHN staff is not working.
There will be a sign-up table in Fellowship Hall during the three preceding Sundays, beginning on April 25th. Please stop by to ask questions and sign-up . If you are unable to give of your time, please consider making a donation. Whatever your gift may be, it is a blessing to these families.

*** We are also looking for two new members to join the coordinator team of Druie, Karen, Willy and Carol.    What's involved?  It's easy!  Just stop by the church for one hour day during our hosting period for these two weeks.  Ensure that the transition from one volunteer to another is smooth.  If you can donate one hour a day for these two weeks please contact Carol Ferguson at carol_ferguson@merck.com or (908) 399-3465.
