Becoming a New Member

We encourage you to attend our worship services, participate in our fellowship activities and join us in any mission or ministry we offer at any time. We hope we can get to know you as you explore becoming a member of the Flemington Presbyterian Church. Please feel free to visit our membership table in Fellowship Hall to speak to someone personally about membership.

As members of the church, we are called by God to be active participants in the ministry of Jesus Christ, sharing our spiritual gifts and love with the world to advance the kingdom of God. As you begin or continue on in your faith journey we encourage you to pray and spend time discerning God's call for you, and how our church can be a part of that faith journey.

When the time is right for you, we would certainly love to welcome you into our church family. Below is a summary of how to become a member. There are several ways to become a member: by baptism and profession of faith, letter of transfer from another Christian church, or reaffirmation of faith.

The steps towards membership include:

(1) Contact the church office at (908)782-3227, or e-mail: office2@flempres.org ,speak with our pastor after a worship service or use the signup link below and indicate you are interested in becoming a member of our church

(2) You will be enrolled in an Exploring Membership Class that will meet Sunday November 9, November 16 and November 23 at 12:00 noon

(3) In the class you will learn about church polity, the history of Presbyterianism, beliefs of the Reformed faith and the Meaning of Membership. You will also be introduced to various areas of the church so you become familiar with the functions of the session, deacons, Worship, Membership, Christian Education and Stewardship committees, etc.

(4) You will meet with the session, the ruling body of the church, at a dinner in Fellowship Hall. Session meets the third Tuesday of the month.

(5) You will be welcomed and received by the congregation as new members during a Sunday worship service.

If you are a member of another church, you can join by requesting a letter of transfer from your former church through our office and upon approval by session.

God has given us all gifts to share with the world. Some have the gift of teaching, others the gift of leadership, some the gift of encouragement, the gift of serving, and still others the gift of hospitality.
