The Board of Deacons Mission

The mission of the Board of Deacons is the ministry of compassion: “It is the duty of Deacons first of all to minister to those in need, to the sick, to the friendless and to any who may be in distress both within and beyond the community of faith.” (Book of Order 6.0402)

The ministry of the Deacons is carried out both among the membership of the congregation and locally outside it—within the community. Deacons periodically visit church members, serve communion and take part in the projects outlined below

Deacons meet on the second Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in Room 22 of the Creighton Building, with the exception of Lent and the months of July and August.
